Gravesend Library

Gravesend Library has an extensive Local History Collection which holds a copy of virtually every reference work for the local area, as well as photographs, newspapers, folders of ephemera, censuses, parish records, council minutes, local club newsletters, parish magazines, architectural drawings and maps.

Gravesend Library has played a major role in preserving local history sources of the local area since 1893 and was largely instrumental in the foundation of what is now the Gravesend Historical Society in 1924. The current District Manager of Gravesham Libraries, Christoph Bull, continues this close link having been three times President of Gravesend Historical Society and convener of the Footpaths Committee.
