Gravesham Borough Council has successfully been awarded Heritage Lottery Funding for an exciting new heritage project called Talking the Walk. ‘Talking the Walk’ is an audio project recording the history of three heritage locations within the borough namely New Tavern Fort, Milton Chantry and a walking tour of the Town and Riverside area. The audio guides offer visitors an engaging and interactive experience with informative commentary together with exciting versions for children. The project has been completed through a process of collecting knowledge, learning and participation with local school children and heritage community members. The audio guides are free and available at the following locations:-
Riverside Walk - Adult and Child version available from Towncentric Tourist Information Centre
The Chantry Heritage Centre - Adult version only
New Tavern Fort - Adult and Child version Open 12noon - 5pm Sat & Sun only April to September (Entry fee applies)
The Chantry Heritage Centre and New Tavern Fort are located within the Fort Gardens, near to Gravesend Promenade.
