A Virtual Museum - Your Town, the Borough and its History

This World War I memorial is a simple stone in the churchyard of St Margaret’s church.

The inscription reads:

THE INHABITANTS OF IFIELD AND THEIR FRIENDS HAVE RAISED THIS MEMORIAL
TO THEIR BROTHERS WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES FOR THEM IN THE 
GREAT WAR 4 AUG 1914 - 11 NOV 1918

ON WHOSE SOULS MAY GOD HAVE MERCY
BY THY CROSS, GOOD LORD DELIVER
